Dear Brian Gunn,
Hope this newsletter finds you healthy and happy enjoying the sunshine of summer. Our next general meeting will be Wednesday, June 24th on Zoom. The regular meeting will begin right at 7 PM with no early social hour this month. Don't forget to pre-register!!

We do hope you'll attend as our meeting is packed, as usual! State Senator (LD1) Bob Hasegawa will be starting the meeting off with a presentation on the prospect and benefits related to the implementation of a State Bank in WA. We also have numerous candidates asking for our endorsement at this meeting, and our local 31st LD candidates will be stopping by to check-in and give us an update on their campgains.

Please see below for more details, and our website for a complete AGENDA. See you Wednesday!
Please Come Prepared!
Did you know there is a few easy steps you can take before our meetings to be fully prepared? At each general meeting, we as a body approve the previous meeting’s minutes for official record. Reading those minutes before you come helps our team correct any possible errors before they are official, and it keeps you in the loop! Tap here to check out May’s General Meeting Minuets!

During endorsement season, it is also really helpful to read each detailed candidate questionnaire for any candidates on the agenda. Our website is updated regularly as candidates send in their information, as well as after each meeting to reflect any official endorsements.

Candidates on our agenda this month that have submitetd their questionnaire include:

King County Superior Court, Pos. 30 – Douglass North
King County Superior Court, Pos. 13 – Andrea Robertson
Pierce County Executive – Larry Seaquist
Lieutenant Governor – Denny Heck
U.S. Congress, WA-10 – Phil Gardner
U.S. Congress, WA-10 – Mary Bacon
Lastly this month, our body will be asked to take a stance on I-1776. This initiative is taking on the fight of overturning a 1998 law that bans preferences in public contracting, education, and public employment. To read all the details, as well as sign the vitrual petiton for November ballot inclusion, please see our website.
And as always, if you find yourself needing help accessing our virtual meetings, please reach out as needed to comminucations chair, Tamara Stramel. Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Are you a member of the 31st?
Annual dues are $31 per calendar year, and are a significant portion of our operating budget. While our general meetings are open to all, only dues-paying members have voting privileges. Reduced dues are available in limited income situations that include, but aren’t limited to: veteran, senior and/or student status, with a minimum of $5 that ensures full rights and privileges.

While dues have historically made up the majority of our budget, we are stepping up our fight to make the 31st District a truly inclusive, equitable, and welcoming place to live. Please consider helping us achieve our goals by contributing today!
