Dear Fellow Democrat,

Do you have a political issue or upcoming race that you're really passionate about? Do you like talking to your neighbors? Would you like a say in who runs the local Democratic party in your county and state legislative district? Would you just like to get to know some like-minded Democrats in your area? If your answer is YES to any of the above, we would love to have you participate in our organization by becoming a Precinct Committee Officer (PCO).

With that goal in mind, we have two BIG DATES to let you know about:

  • PCO RALLY, Saturday, May 7th at Sunset Park in Auburn, 10:30am-12:30pm (Google map directions) This is going to be a fun event and open to current PCOs and anyone who's wondering if they maybe might want to be a PCO. There is NO COMMITMENT, just come hang out with some fellow Democrats, get more info, meet local candidates (including Mayor Michael McCullough of Bonney Lake and City Councilmember James Jeyeraj of Auburn), and eat some snacks. :) We would love to see you! See the flyer below!

  • FILING WEEK, May 16th-20th: PCOs officially file with their county elections office. We'll send out links as filing week gets closer, but it is good to save the date now.

PCOs are the volunteer base our entire Democratic party is built on in Washington state, and every precinct in the county has an opening. Precincts generally have around 600-1200 voters in them. If you caucused for Bernie or Hillary in 2016, those were your precinct neighbors you were caucusing with!

This year the 31st is developing a PCO Support Committee to help bring new PCOs on board and make this feel like a fun group effort. We're all in this together! We will have trainings and materials for new PCOs, all Democrats are welcome! No experience necessary. :)

For more information about PCOs, see these informational pages from the Pierce County Dems and the King County Dems. Or if you have questions, just reply to this email, and we'll be happy to help you.

Hope to see you soon!

Annual dues are $31 per calendar year, and are a significant portion of our operating budget. While our general meetings are open to all, only dues-paying members have voting privileges. Reduced dues are available in limited income situations that include, but aren’t limited to veteran, senior and/or student status, with a minimum of $5 that ensures full rights and privileges.
