31st LD Caucus: Saturday, March 26

2022 is a Caucus and Convention year! The 31st LD will hold a VIRTUAL Caucus on Saturday, March 26, 2022, starting at 10am. The purpose of the LD Caucus is to elect a delegation of Democrats from the 31st LD to participate in the 2022 Washington State Democratic Party Convention on June 25th in Tacoma. The State Convention is where the 2022 Party Platform will be adopted. In addition, resolutions originating from grassroots Democrats will also be considered at the State Convention.

That means it is time for us to start planning and organizing for this 2022 Caucus. Rules for the Caucus are going to be different from prior years, as outlined in the Delegate Selection & Affirmative Action Plan (DSAAP). Detailed information will be posted to our website very soon; in the meantime, here are the most urgent items that require our immediate attention:
  • While any person residing in our district may run for delegate at the Caucus regardless of age, citizenship, or voter registration status, only members in good standing of the 31st LD as of February 26 will have a vote at the LD Caucus. Precinct Committee Officers will automatically have a vote, but non-PCO members must renew their membership by paying dues no later than the 26th to ensure they will be issued a ballot during the caucus.
  • We must appoint members of our LD to serve various roles for the 2022 Caucus. This includes a secretary, parliamentarian, credentials committee, tally committee, and affirmative action committee. As chair, I am automatically assigned to serve as the caucus/delegation chair.

If you are interested in helping to organize the Caucus, please attend our next general meeting on February 23rd and volunteer to join one of these committees or send an email to me today at chair@31stdistrictdemocrats.org, or call me at (253) 234-4759.

It's time to join or renew your dues. Annual dues are $31 per individual, per calendar year (January-December). Reduced dues are available in limited income situations that include, but aren’t limited to: veteran, senior, and/or student status, with a minimum of $5 that ensures full rights and privileges for residents of the 31st legislative district of Washington State.

In order to have a vote at the caucus, pay your dues by February 26. Paying your dues will provide you full voting rights at meetings. PCOs always have a vote but are encouraged to pay dues too.
